We believe trustworthy local news and public affairs reporting is a public service. Without it, our democratic institutions are opaque and unresponsive. Rumors are treated like fact. Bad decisions can made on our behalf — and when we learn about them, it is too late.

That's why we work hard to do the reporting that elected representatives — and would be representatives — need to act on our behalf. And we don't stop at reporting — we also host election forums where candidates can discuss the issues, like our recent forum on the District Three Board of Supervisors race.

But we can't do this without your support. If you appreciate our effort, please donate to help pay for operating costs. We operate on a shoestring to ensure minimal coverage. If readers give more, we can do more.
